Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
I would like to thank the Lord our God for the good rainfall during this first season, farmers have sown most of the first-season crops. Maize, beans, ground nuts, soybeans and vegetables have been planted into the ground. Now, most farmers are actively weeding their fields to remove weeds so the crops can thrive.
Meanwhile, those who planted earlier using wetland plots or irrigation are already harvesting and selling produce. This early harvest is a true blessing for their families. Seeing fresh produce in the market also encourages other farmers to invest in irrigation or try double-cropping.
Last year we planted hundreds of fruit and forest trees with our farmers. We are thankful that most of those young trees have survived and are growing. The green shoots and new leaves we see are signs of hope and of a healthier environment.
Our goal is ambitious: we hope to have 60,000 tree seedlings planted by the end of this activity with the five communities. To reach this goal, we need to distribute seedlings widely before the rains finish. Our nursery is thriving, filled with strong young trees ready for transplanting. We have started reaching out to the farmers with the seedlings already and hope to finish it by the end of next week.
We were greatly encouraged by two visitors from St. Andrews Baptist Church in Scotland. They toured our farms, prayed with our farmers, and shared ideas. Their visit strengthened our partnership and reminded us that the body of Christ spans the globe. We are grateful for this friendship and ask for prayers that it will bear much fruit in future collaboration.
Our prayer requests are
Pray for continued, well-timed rainfall in this season; our farmers depend on it.
Pray that we can reach our goal of distributing 60,000 tree seedlings, and that farmers will receive training to care for them.
Pray for a successful visa application and safe travel for the planned trip to the BMS World Mission “Expect 26” conference in June 2026 and also the partner church visits when I am in the UK.
Pray for protection and guidance on all travel, including my trip and any pastoral visits to field sites.
As Galatians 6:9 encourages us, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Thank you for standing with us in this work. We trust that our labor in the Lord will yield a glorious harvest for His Kingdom.
Blessings and peace,
Genesis
