BMS World Mission is committed to creating safe spaces where people can thrive and which do not contribute to suffering and injustice.
We recognise our duty of care to all those who come into contact with BMS, we do not tolerate any form of harm or abuse and seek to ensure that staff, volunteers and representatives ‘do no harm’ while working with or representing BMS.
Having policies and procedures in place which reflect this and working collaboratively with our partners to do the same.
Following safe recruitment processes. We are also members of the Misconduct Disclosure Scheme.
Ensuring that all our staff and volunteers have support and training in place which is relevant and appropriate to their role.
Continually seeking to create a culture where everyone we are in contact with is empowered to tell us if they have experienced harm or abuse
A commitment to working with statutory agencies such as the police or local authority, including overseas where appropriate.
Our work is underpinned by relevant national UK legislation. This includes but is not limited to the Children Act 1989, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023, Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006 and The Care Act 2014.
