March 2025

Rejoice in the Lord and again I said Rejoice!

Warm greetings from Phnom Penh to all our supporters.

Once again, we are witnessing the marvelous work of God in our ministry in the last two months. Your prayer is answered by God. Let us rejoice in the Lord as the two new believers in the hostel got baptised exactly on the day we started to worship in the new rented chapel. This is the sign of the blessing of the new chapel for our future ministry. Please remind yourselves that you are one of the persons who take part in this ministry.

Let me begin by highlighting some of the key activities we organized and in which we were directly involved over the past two months.

Two New Believers got Baptized: On Sunday, February 9th, 2025, a dedication ceremony for the new rented church building took place. Coincidentally, on this significant occasion, two new believers—a female law student Tey (Sun Sovanbotey) and a young male Meng (Kheng Samheng) an IT student residing in the hostel—were baptized. I have included one of the testimonies in this report."

Digital Evangelism Training: On 7th–8th March 2025, Horaios Ministry, in collaboration with Cambodia Campus Crusade for Christ, organized a two-day Digital Evangelism Training at Horaios Baptist Church. The training, attended by 30 participants, focused on using digital technology to share the Gospel. On the first day, attendees learned about the JESUS Film App and its benefits for evangelism. The second day offered practical exercises to help participants apply what they had learned.

Discipleship training: On March 12th, 2025, a one-day discipleship training session was organized for a group of Christians in Banlung city, Ratanagiri Provinces, located over 480 kilometers away from our mission station. The group consisted of 17 women, 13 men from local villages, along with 7 missionaries and staff members, totaling 37 participants. I traveled with our supporting evangelist, Sokea, and one missionary from India. Ratnagiri Province is situated in the northeastern part of Cambodia, where indigenous communities have established settlements.

Horaios ACA Program: The "Horaios ACA (Academic) Night" is a new program launched to enhance academic skills for students in the Horaios Hostel. Starting on February 18th, 2025, the initiative provides students with a platform to present papers on topics from their college courses. Every Tuesday night, students engage in paper presentations with strong participation and enthusiasm. Debates on current issues like environmental issue, women issue etc., also will be included in this program. The program aims to foster academic growth and development.

Village out reach evangelism: On the afternoon of Sunday, 16th March 2025, we conducted an outreach evangelism mission to Vehpous and Tropeagrun villages. In Vehpous, my wife and Thongsy ministered to the children. Meanwhile, I, along with four evangelists, proceeded to Tropeagrun village, where we engaged in evangelistic ministry with both children and adults. During this outreach, we distributed 30 gift boxes to children, which we had received from the Samaritan's Purse Ministry.

Our family is doing well. My wife celebrated her 48th birthday in March, which we marked with the dormitory students. Our children are excelling in their studies, with the exception of our youngest, Puipuii, who recently started school. While she initially faced some challenges, she is now content with attending school, although she still requires improvement in her academic performance.

I am deeply grateful to BMS for extending the opportunity to me to visit their Head Office in Didcot, UK, from June 26 to July 14, 2025. During this visit, I will present a report on the work of God through the mission in Cambodia, which we are involve together with UK churches in partnership with BMS. Preparations for this visit, including visa applications and other necessary requirements from my sending church, are currently in progress.

In this letter "I am pleased to include the testimony of one of the dormitory students, Meng, in this letter. Meng joined Horaios Hostel in the year 2022 February. He is an intelligent student among the residents of the hostel. Prior to his decision to follow Jesus, he raised numerous critical questions regarding the tenets of Christianity. Personally, I am overjoyed by Meng’s decision to undergo baptism, as it marks the culmination of a long period during which we prayed for the Lord to transform his perspective. I am grateful to God for changing his beliefs. He has since emerged as a leader in the Boys' Dormitory and has also become a valuable person in the church’s activities.

The following testimony is based on his own writing; however, I have edited his English for clarity.

Testimony of Meng: My name is Khen Samheng (Nick name Meng). I am from Stung Treng Province and was born on November 25, 2004. I come from a Buddhist family and have participated in all Buddhist rituals.

I first heard about Christ while I was in secondary school through a Korean Christian school in my village. However, I was never interested in Christianity or God. After finishing Grade 12, I moved to Phnom Penh to continue my university studies. Finding a good and safe place to stay was very difficult. Fortunately, I knew some friends who were staying at Horaios Dormitory. Thankfully, there was a room available for me. I was happy to stay in the dorm because it helped me save money,

At the dormitory, we had regular Bible study nights, fellowship gatherings, and Sunday services. These meetings always left me with many questions, and instead of finding answers, I became more confused. I struggled to understand who God really is and had doubts about His existence. But at the same time, something in me wanted to know more. I started studying on my own and asked our Pastor (Pastor J) many questions. Slowly, my doubts faded, and I began to trust in the reality of God.

I started to believe that Jesus is real—that He died for me and saved me. However, I didn’t want to make the choice to follow Jesus without strong conviction. Even after believing in God, it took me two years to truly decide to follow Him. On February 9, 2025, I was baptized. I am the first in my family to become a Christian, and I have no regrets because I made this decision with full conviction that Jesus is real.

Please pray for Horaios Baptist Church, the mother and central church of our ministry. We are in great need of a permanent place of worship for the future, as our current location is rented.

Pray for the gospel meeting for the dormitory students which we plan to organized in the month of April.

Kindly pray for me as I navigate the visa application process and make the necessary preparations for my visit to the BMS office in Didcot and the churches in the UK.

We deeply appreciate your support and the time you’ve taken to read our prayer letters. We’re pleased to share that, as always, we are ministering together, and the report you’ve read reflects your ministry as well. Thank you for being an essential part of God’s mission in Cambodia.

Psalm 37:4 - "Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart."

Blessings
