Strengthening Partnerships and Mobilizing Churches

The past three months have marked significant milestones in expanding and deepening our collaborative mission efforts across the region and globally. God has entrusted the work focused on three key initiatives:

BMS Expect '26 Meeting: Attending the BMS quadrennial Expect '26 conference in the UK was a cornerstone moment for our partnership. Spending quality time with BMS leaders and partner representatives allowed us to foster deeper trust, mutual connection, and a stronger shared vision for future global engagement.

South Asia–Indochina Mission Consultation (Bangkok): Gathering regional leaders in Bangkok yielded encouraging, tangible outcomes. The consultation resulted in concrete commitments across member bodies to collaborate directly in sending and supporting mission workers into the unreached Indochina region.

8-Steps Training in Singapore: In July, we facilitated the "8-Steps" training in Singapore, a strategic process designed to equip and empower local congregations. The sessions successfully guided local churches toward taking direct ownership of church-based mission sending, moving from passive supporters to active sending hubs.

Across all three areas, the overarching vision remains clear: building relational trust and providing practical frameworks so the local church across Asia and beyond can step boldly into cross-cultural mission.

One of the great advantages of living in Indonesia is that world-famous Bali is just a short hop away. We were deeply blessed to take a week off from the busyness of work and ministry to enjoy some dedicated family time away from our usual routine.

This vacation was a long time coming. By God's grace, everything lined up seamlessly, creating a week where my work schedule overlapped with the school holidays of both my daughters, despite them being at different stages of their education. That much-needed rest served as the perfect fuel, giving us renewed strength to dive back into our busy schedules.

An Insight into Impact: Bridging the Capacity Gap

At our recent South Asia–Indochina Mission Consultation, a key reality emerged: local churches have immense mission heart, yet sending structures remain fragile. Passion alone cannot sustain long-term work without proper training, care, and field mapping.

The breakthrough came as participating conventions made concrete commitments to bridge this capacity gap. Notably, one convention pledged to train 20 local mission candidates, while another committed to mobilizing five workers for one country in the Indochina region. By partnering together, we are turning heartfelt mission burden into sustainable sending capacity.

Engaging with leaders from various conventions and local churches during our recent consultation deeply enriched our perspective. One pastor—whose church already runs a vibrant mission ministry—humbly shared, "We can always do mission better." What made this moment unforgettable was the context: he casually referred to his congregation as a "small church." In his mind, 15,000 members was modest! His humility was a gentle, humorous reminder that no matter our size, experience, or current impact, God always invites us to grow deeper in our calling and never stop learning.

For the Indochina Mission Commitments: Pray for the conventions and bodies that pledged to mobilize candidates—especially the target to train 20 local candidates and send workers abroad. Pray for wisdom as we build sustainable missionary care and sending pathways for them.

For Humility & Vision: Pray that we all maintain the humble heart of that local pastor—remembering that no matter how much we achieve, we can always learn, grow, and do mission better for His glory.

For Family: Please pray for my oldest daughter who has just finished her undergrad degree, and is currently seeking to find work experience.
