Dear Friends
Greetings from the UK - we finally made it! After months of sorting, packing, organising and lots of prayer, we have moved back to live in England. We will spend the first few months on our final Home Assignment before coming to end of service as overseas mission workers. However, we will not be retiring or severing our links with our Thai church plants or our supporting churches here in the UK and overseas.
Meanwhile in Thailand, the church at Ban Dara is getting excited for their big move. The new church building is almost complete and they hope to move in and begin worshipping there in July. Praise God for the generosity of people in Thailand and around the globe that has enabled us to finish this project debt free. The church, as people, is also being built by God and we pray that many more will be added as local people come to know Jesus.
Up in Maesan, Pastor Newton has been busy with various events. They include: a family camp held on a house-raft at the local reservoir, which was a great time of fun and fellowship; a children's event, where Samaritans Purse boxes were given amidst much joy on behalf of the kids; and distribution of audio Bibles in the local Mien language. It is wonderful that they can hear the Word of God in their mother tongue.
In Wang Daeng, they held a combined farewell service for us with all three churches, local Uttaradit pastors, Wit's family members and representatives from the Bangkok churches. They focused on gratitude to God for His faithfulness over the past ten years that we have been there. It was a joyful event, but tinged with sadness at the thought of our parting ways. On the same day, three new believers were baptised and we pray for many more in the years to come.
We are so thankful for the amazing help and support we received from both of our children in making our transition back to the UK so smooth.
Our time in Thailand is over and a new chapter is beginning. During our Home Assignment and for at least six months following that, Wit will continue mentoring the pastors and leaders at our three churches. We also hope to make a pastoral visit during January/February 2027. However, a new door may be opening for Wit with the Network of Thai Christians in the UK - a registered charity and support network dedicated to connecting Thai believers across the country. Operating since 2006, it hosts regular fellowship groups, Bible studies, and national gatherings to foster spiritual growth. It would be a leadership postion and we would need to raise our own support for Wit to be able to fulfill this role. Please pray for God's wisdom and guidance.
At the beginning of May we welcomed Jonah as the youth pastor, serving the Wang Daeng Church. He has quickly established friendships with the young people and we are already seeing many of them come back to church. He has been doing a great job with the music teaching and encouraging the youngsters to get involved in the worship team. Also, he has taken over the football training from Ajarn Tah, and the young people are responding well; he has been able to take them to play in some matches. Please pray for Jonah as he adjusts to a completely new lfestyle in a rural Thai village.
In our previous prayer letter we mentioned the Lao Wiang Bible translation project, which is now up and running. The three members of the translation team, Sanay, Tiw and Toon, have been very enthusiastic in translating the first 10 Bible stories from Thai into Lao Wiang. In the subsequent community checking session, it was exciting to see five members of the Wang Daeng village, who would never usually set foot in a church, reading about Jesus' birth and ministry in their own language - may God open their eyes to the truth. It's also been encouraging to see Mr Sanay getting more involved in church as a result of this project.
Please pray for the Ban Dara Church as they move to their new building next month
Pray for Pastor Newton as he leads the congregation in Maesan
Pray for the three new believers in Wang Daeng that they would stand firm in their faith
Pray for Pastor Jonah as he stuggles with homesickness
Pray for the translation team and particularly for Sanay to grow in his faith
Pray for ongoing training in all three churches - in worship leading, Sunday school teaching and care groups
Pray for Team, Chub and Grape as they study in Bible College
And finally, pray for us as we transition back into life in the UK and that God would guide our future
Blessings in Christ
Wit & Helen
