Staying to Serve with Integrity

Greetings in Christ! I am writing this letter from Chaurjahari, West Rukum, where we have been working on the INTENT project across ten schools. The region has been buzzing with election campaigns, and the schools have been racing to conclude their lessons. Most of our partner schools hosted polling stations, and several of our teachers were appointed as election officers or support staff.

Amidst this busy season, we successfully launched our fourth-year activities. We have just finished signing partnership agreements with our ten school leaders, whom we also trained on "lesson observation and feedback." We focused on how to make these observations impactful through non-judgmental and developmental support.

The past few months have marked a significant milestone for my professional development. I had the privilege of leading external evaluations for two major projects, including the Mid-Term Evaluation of the INTENT Project in West Rukum, a consortium initiative implemented by four organisations. Leading this was a stretching experience, but it provided a bird’s-eye view of the change we are making.

The evaluation results for our work here brought such deep encouragement:

Exemplary Safety: Our child safeguarding practices were rated as "exemplary" and recommended as a model for other organisations to adopt.

Real Impact: Our School Transformation Programme received a high impact rating of 4 out of 5 from the Social Welfare Council.

Room to Grow: These insights also challenged us to better integrate themes like Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) into our mainstream programming.

Beyond the technical reports, our training continues to reach deep into the community. We recently trained more than 100 teachers on adaptive teaching and over 300 parents on "positive discipline." This impact was beautifully summarised by a Ward Chair from Chaurjahari:

"KISC EQUIP is the only organisation that supports our school community with a long-term goal. You have maintained excellent relationships and transparency, which is rare."

What these evaluations cannot measure, however, are the spiritual shifts happening beneath the surface. This includes the dignity of a child treated with compassion instead of punishment, or the prayer whispered before a difficult meeting. Alongside this, I was invited to write devotionals for Scripture Union Nepal based on 1 Corinthians 12–16. As I reflected on the supremacy of love, I was reminded that the greatest of these is love (1 Corinthians 13:13).

It struck me that while our reports measure the "gifts" of our service (our strategies, training, and data), those things are only the vessels. Without the love of Christ flowing through our relationships with teachers and parents, the work loses its true soul. Whether I am analysing a sustainability matrix or mentoring a young leader, my prayer is that people see His love long after the project cycles have ended. To be known for our transparency and for "staying" is the greatest encouragement. It shows that Christ’s love is seen through our consistency and honesty.

At home, we are grateful. Both of our sons are preparing for their final exams, and my wife—a primary teacher, is busy guiding her students through the same season. I continue mentoring teenage leaders in our church, and it is a joy to watch them grow and begin mentoring others. Recently, the church council proposed that I serve as an elder. I am praying for wisdom to serve faithfully and with a clear conscience.

Prayer requests

o   Thank God that we successfully completed this project cycle and have begun a new two-year initiative in the Siraha District.

o   Pray for continued peace and stability for Christian communities and for Nepal following Nepal’s General Election earlier in March.

o   Pray for KISC EQUIP to expand and reach more underserved communities across Nepal.

Thank you for your faithful Sunday prayers and for remembering us during the week. Please know that we pray regularly for you in our team and family devotions.

God Bless you and your ministry!
