Over the past quarter, EQUIP has continued to make meaningful progress in strengthening teacher capacity, enhancing student support systems, and advancing sustainable school transformation across 4 districts. Through targeted training, resource distribution, collaborative monitoring, and strategic partnerships with local governments and education stakeholders, these initiatives demonstrate a clear commitment to improving educational quality, access, and long-term impact. From empowering teachers with student-centered methodologies to supporting vulnerable students with scholarships and school lunch programs, each engagement reflects a focused and holistic approach toward transformative education in Nepal.
Training and other activities were conducted to strengthen teacher capacity and student support. These initiatives reflect continued commitment to improving educational quality and access.
In Sundar Bazar Primary Level II training and follow up of equipped teachers took place with practical, student-centered methodologies, with strong engagement and clear commitment to classroom implementation. Additionally, classroom libraries books were provided to further support the reading environment and culture.
Similarly, in Beshisahar Training of Trainer (ToT) II, peer observation was provided to 26 resource teachers, who developed school-level action plans and received educational resources to practice sustainable continuous professional development back in their schools. In addition, an exposure visit was organised for these KISC resource teachers and selected schools in Kathmandu, enhancing their understanding of quality teaching practices and professional learning communities.
EQUIP also distributed scholarships to forty-five students across nine partner schools in Beshisahar, easing financial burdens for families and motivating continued school attendance of the students. Likewise, 127 students from two schools continue to benefit from school lunch. This school lunch program has been an assistance to improve students’ health on top of satisfying their hunger.
Over the past quarter, I had the opportunity to engage closely in key EQUIP initiatives such as project monitoring and evaluation and advocacy in Rukum West. The Social Welfare Council’s evaluation of our School Transformation Programme (STP) affirmed its strong alignment with municipal education priorities and its positive impact on teaching quality and student engagement. Teachers reported increased confidence and improved classroom practices, while students shared that learning has become more interactive and enjoyable.
In December, we jointly monitored the INTENT Project with officials from the Ministry of Education Science and Technology, reinforcing collaboration with local government and schools. Our advocacy program with Chaurjahari Municipality further strengthened shared commitment to quality education and sustainability, aligning with national education priorities and UN Sustainable Development Goal 4.
In Rukum West we also successfully implemented the Operation Christmas Child programme, reaching 503 children from five local churches and two schools, bringing gospel, encouragement, and joy to many. Additionally, the School Lunch Program continues to support 248 students regularly, contributing to better health, reducing junk food consumption, and improving student focus and cohesion. Overall, these engagements reflect meaningful progress and reaffirm our commitment to sustainable education transformation in Rukum West.
Similarly, in Siraha, as the Head of EQUIP I was able to conduct monitoring visits across partner schools, holding meetings with Principals and teachers to review project implementation and progress. In addition, EQUIP distributed backpacks to 54 teachers, 144 students, further supporting both educators and learners with essential resources.
In a separate engagement, I was able to participate in the Christian Educators' Network (CEN) Nepal Educators' Meet. Representing the core team and presented an update on CEN Nepal's purpose and work to the school leaders. The meeting included a survey on principals' needs and challenges, followed by a collaborative reflection on the issues educators are facing in their professional journeys. CEN Nepal remains committed to serving Christian educators across the nation through continued collaboration.
This time as a family we were able to have some family time and celebrate Christmas in Kolkota, West Bengal. As a couple we celebrated our 27th anniversary on 18th January. My wife was able to attend Haggai Leader Experience on ending gospel poverty in Malaysia. She continues to manage her high cholesterol with medicine.
