Dear all
I am now back on UK soil, having arrived here in early March. Since leaving for Mozambique in 2017, I'd not been back before at this time of year and so have been enjoying certain parts of Spring. The daffodils, the evenings getting longer (even in the middle of summer, it's dark in Beira by about 7pm), and the signs of new growth on the trees – not to mention the creme eggs in the supermarket!
This will be my final prayer letter with BMS (my last official day with BMS will be 22nd May). Thank you so much to everyone who has journeyed with me during my time in Mozambique. It has been lovely to see so many of you while I've been back in the UK on various home assignments over the years, but also thank you to those of you I've not been able to meet.
Next steps
For the immediate future, I'll be looking to settle back in Bournemouth on the South coast. This is where I was living before I went to Mozambique, and where my sending church is.
Work-wise, I am still trying to work out what God has in store for me next.
Thanks to modern technology, I'm also able to keep in touch with colleagues in AMAC, brothers and sisters from church, and other friends in Mozambique now that I've returned here. So far, I've been really encouraged by this communication.
Thank you
In the Bible, Proverbs 31:8-9 (NLT) says:
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.
Thank you for all your support for our work in Mozambique. This support has enabled justice to be brought to thousands who would not be able to otherwise access it. You have helped set free people who had been wrongly imprisoned. You have helped mothers to obtain maintenance payments for their children. You have helped workers who were unfairly dismissed to receive compensation. You have helped so many more find out about their rights under the law in Mozambique, whether through face-to-face talks or digital methods such as radio, Facebook or an app. And, through all of that, your support has enabled AMAC to show Christ's love to people who may not otherwise experience it.
Your support has also helped build up and strengthen Christian lawyers and law students. To give them experience of access to justice work, and how their faith in Christ can impact their daily work in the law.
And your support has also enabled the part of my ministry with the local church. It has been such a joy to walk alongside, encourage and strengthen both those in my church (Macuti Baptist Church) and the wider area.
Please pray
For practical aspects of returning to the UK such as finding accommodation and a new role, but also that I would emotionally feel settled here.
For AMAC, praise God that the ministry is continuing well but please continue to pray for the sustainability of the organisation going forward. That the ministry would be a part of bringing justice to Mozambique and showing God's love to the community.
For my church, Macuti Baptist Church. That the church would be a light to the community around it, and that each member would grow in their love for God.
Thank you once again for all your love, prayers and support during my time in Mozambique. God bless you!
Love Jane
