Dave and Michele Mahon

February 2025

Rooted in God's love

Dear Friends,

It was so good to see some of you during our recent home assignment. It was a busy schedule, and we are grateful to have been kept safe during our travels in the cold of winter. However, the warm welcome and wonderful hospitality were such a blessing to us, and we enjoyed sharing updates with you all. Your prayers and encouragement strengthened us, and we pray we were able to be a blessing to you too! The churches in the UK have given us so much to be thankful for—we saw many faithful congregations with their eyes firmly fixed on Christ. Take heart, and please keep the fire burning for Jesus!

On our return, we enjoyed a family spiritual retreat by the sea. It was a much-needed rest, and our retreat guide helped us reflect on who God is, who we are in the light of these truths, and how to stay grounded in God's love, like the tree mentioned in Psalm 1. It prepared us for a new start of school for the children, among other things. Refreshed, the children are now navigating another year of academics and other areas of development. Please would you pray for them to continue thriving?

Sadly, our landlord's dog, Maggie, passed away while we were away. We miss her very much! She brought us so much joy and lovingly made our hearts bigger.

Last week, the roof collapsed in the food court of one of our shopping centres here in Trujillo. Several people lost their lives, and many others were injured. Please could you pray for all those affected—that they may be healed, find justice, and that corruption will be exposed and removed?

Dave will be meeting with the leaders of the Peruvian Baptist Convention in a few days. Together, they will be discussing plans and strategies for the near future. He will also be teaching at a conference aimed at encouraging greater mission and outreach among the churches. We would appreciate your prayers for these times to be constructive and for God's guidance to be felt at every stage.

It was good to be back at our church, Horeb. We greatly missed everyone there during the past few weeks while we were away. Recently, they completed an evangelistic medical campaign at one of our church plants in Chicama, an area of great need two hours outside the city. Some church members who are doctors offered their services and medicines free of charge to the Chicama community, while also sharing the message of God's love. Public healthcare in Peru faces significant challenges, so this outreach was especially impactful. Another church member, a barber, brought along a team of colleagues to offer free haircuts. It was a joyful occasion, and we praise God for the opportunity and resources to support this outreach. Please pray that the seeds of love planted in Chicama will bear much fruit.

Thank you so much for all your support, Christmas cards, encouragement, and prayers. We are also praying for you and send you much love. May the grace and peace of God fill and surround you, and may you remain right in the centre of our Heavenly Father's will.

With every blessing,

Phoebe, Ruth, Jonathan, Michele and Dave
