Dear Everyone,
Greetings to you all in the Name of Our Lord Jesus Christ. We trust that you are all well and that the Lord has kept you and your family. We are very grateful for the year 2024 and all that transpired throughout the year. I trust that you had a restful Christmas and New Year break celebrating with the people around you and as a church.
For some people, we were able to relocate, travel to different places doing series of activities, others were able to migrate to start live in new places, others married, others got promoted, others prayed, others supported friends, colleagues and family members and many others. As these were happening, others lost their dear ones, other lost their jobs, and others closed their business, other were sick or had their dear ones sick and many others. But what do we all have to say?, we just say thank you God who holds the world in the palm of his hand. Psalm 55:22 says ‘cast your cares on to the Lord and he will sustain you: he will never let the righteous be shaken’ and Mathew 11:28-30 ‘Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light’.
As you remember we worked together with a number of families and churches to carry out the farming activities which were very successful a lot of testimonies came out from the farmers and they were very thankful to the Lord of harvest who provided the rain and allowed the crops to grow well. Families had the food they need and where able to sell some of the excess to meet other needs such as medical bills, school fees, buy clothes and other household needs.
I visited a lady last week and she said ‘I got eight bags of groundnut from one of my garden, sold two bags and with that money, I bought two female goats which I expect them to conceive and deliver in the next six months. She further said she bought ten local chickens that she will sell at some point to raise income. She was very bold to say ‘l learnt and practiced vegetable production last year through the trainings and got even more money from my cabbage. I am now more confident to grow vegetable and I am planning to grow more than last year so that I will be able to get good income’.
I visited Pastor Olyel too, he took me to his maize field, 2 acres which are ready for harvest, he got over 20 bags of groundnuts. He also said the year was good and church members have agreed to lay bricks so that they will be able to sell and get more money and also use part of the cash to start building a church structure that is strong and have a tin roof house not the current mud house with dry grass top. Pr Olyel is currently helping the community members in bulking their produce together then market as a group. He did for maize and groundnuts and this has greatly help the farmers to secure a better market for their produce.
Last year he was advised to improve on the management of his coffee garden so that the production improves for him to earn good income. He was able to harvest and sell his coffee at the end of last year and he got four million shillings. He also set up a small nursery bed where he is raising over one thousand coffee seedlings. He intends to plan two more acres of coffee to help boost his income. He will also share the excess seedling with his colleagues who are interested in coffee growing. There are other crops still in the garden which are being harvested such as sorghum, sweet potatoes, groundnuts among others.
As a church, they have a vision of building a strong room to act as office and store where they will be able to store church equipment such as solar panel, microphones, sound speakers and other items that belong to the church.
We trust that God will give us the grace to carry out the agricultural work with five new communities in Nwoya District four the next two years. Many of you prayed and supported this work and good hard us and gave us all that were needed for our success.
We would like to thank the lord for the new agroforestry project that will train and help 100 households to plan an acre of trees each. We are very thankful for your prayers and support.
Pray with us that:
- The agricultural work and the agroforestry work will be successful
- Pray for the new groups and the new communities to work with us freely to achieve the intended objectives.
- Pray for the church leaders as they labour to preach the word of the Lord and also lead their communities.
We wish you the best of 2025, may the Lord almighty bless you and keep you safe.
