Grateful

We are so grateful to God and to you who support us with your prayers and finances so that we can take part in God's work at Guinebor 2 Hospital in Chad. We say thank you to God for the many families who have joy because of the healing of their loved ones.  We thank God for the gifts of orthopaedic material (replacement of femoral heads offered by Dr Carsten and friends) which has changed the lives of many people. We are grateful for the progress in the hospital's finances after the efforts to implement protocols and procedures by Lucia Bastos.  We are grateful for the efforts of the pharmacy, directed by Claire Bedford, to bring products and consumables to the hospital despite limited resources.

We thank God for the team spirit of the staff and the quality of the services provided at Guinebor 2 hospital.  We thank God for the protection of my family and I during the explosions in Ndjamena (none of us were hit, although a bullet passed through our house).

It is remarkable the blessings of God in the lives of our patients.  Their expressions of gratitude continue to encourage all the staff.

The hip replacement programme is working well and many patients are happy to be walking again. This is the feeling of our colleague Francis, who had a hip replacement after several years of suffering.  We are proud to see not only success but happy patients and their families. Surely our Lord is glorified!

Our financial management system has made great progress with the new policy and procedure for financial transactions under the leadership of Lucia Bastos.  Our pharmacy has also made progress with the little funds available.

The hospital is not so busy due to the rainy season, but emergencies are always there.

The State has replaced the gendarmes with the military at the hospital for our safety, a decision that was not easy to accept because the gendarmes know better how to manage people.   In general, the city's security is reinforced.

The staff are still worried about getting around, especially in this period of rain.

Finally, the Minister of Health has promised to give us the work agreement this week.

Our children Josue and Clarisse did not pass their baccalaureate exam, which saddened them and the rest of the family.  Little Timothee has made a lot of progress in school, speaks better English and writes better too.  Rose is going into 6th grade.  We remain very grateful to BMS for the support with school fees for these two children and also for the general financial support of our family.

As for the rest of the family, we are all doing well thanks to His grace.

Safety and poverty remain challenges. Patients and care givers are often aggressive when it comes to hospital visiting hours. The presence of the emergency department within the hospital wards, because of the remodelling of the new emergency department, makes it difficult to manage visitors.

We have a lot of people who come suffering but have no money, so we help them through a fund for the poor. When there's no money in the fund, it's the hospital that loses out financially.

The young woman in the photo above aged 16 has just had an emergency caesarean section.  The result was a beautiful boy, but her parents had no money. This is another example of lives and families touched at G2.

What we learn from all this is that in Chad if you want to serve others you have to be really patient.

Our Saviour is always at work to save people and He continues to save through His word. Great is my joy to have preached the gospel during some evangelization campaigns and to see young men saved as the below photo shows.

1-Pray for the safety of the staff.

2- Pray that the emergency department building will be completed quickly.

3 - Pray that the hospital will have enough money to support the poor.

4- Pray that I will have the wisdom and discernment to do all things as God wants.

5- Pray for a surgeon and a gynaecologist.

6- Pray for everyone here, that God will give us patience.

7-Pray for our work agreement with the Ministry of Health, which remains unsigned.

8- Pray for the protection of my family and myself: health and the new school year for the children.

We are very grateful to BMS our main support and all those who help us through them.

We thank each and every one of you who prays for us.

God bless you all!
