What are you looking for?
God has done so much at BMS World Mission in 2025! Here are just some of our favourite answered prayers from the last year.
Did you know your support has helped thousands in 2025? That through your faithful prayer and giving you have been part of helping people across the globe, from those who have lost everything due to natural disasters, to giving support to survivors of gender-based violence? We couldn’t do any of this without your help and support. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
Reflecting on 2025, God has been so faithful and kind this past year. There are so many stories of answered prayer, more than we could ever tell you. Here are just some of our highlights and ones that impacted us the most.
“On 24 February 2022, my life, like that of many Ukrainians, was turned upside down,” Elena, a Ukrainian pensioner from Kherson, begins. The grief and pain that followed Russia's invasion of Ukraine won't come as a surprise to any of our supporters. What may surprise you is that you’ve been the answer to prayer in so many ordinary lives – a literal Godsend for people like Elena.
A project that you helped fund last year made it possible to provide vital assistance to war-affected populations in the border regions of Sumy, Kharkiv, Kherson, and parts of the Donetsk region through a network of local churches.
This project gave life-saving assistance to people like Elena and over 6,290 others living in occupied territory. “[My husband and I] chose to stay in our native Kherson because we had no other option,” Elena shares. “We did not have our own car to leave, and a few days later the city was completely occupied. Unfortunately, at the beginning of 2023, my husband passed away, and I was left alone.”
Elena received food assistance and hygiene kits, giving her access to everyday essentials that her pension did not cover. “I am thankful to God for the Church and for people who care about human suffering,” Elena shares. “This support is exactly what we need at the moment.”
BMS World Mission colleagues, Elizabeth and Jackie, had reason to praise God who answered personal prayers in 2025. Jackie Chilvers, BMS’ Safeguarding Lead, had long been praying for volunteers among BMS’ mission workers to help champion safer spaces. “In 2025, we recruited four volunteers who have safeguarding expertise, and one assignment has been completed with a partner who was supported to implement safeguarding policy and processes for their context,” she explains.
Elizabeth O’Brien, BMS’ Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Officer, has her own story of answered prayer. After undertaking a work trip to an area where malaria is highly prevalent, Elizabeth asked colleagues to pray for protection. “I did not get bitten once!” she shares. Praise God for his kindness!
In 2025, BMS partner workers came alongside a man known as ‘Uncle Kamphon’, who was living in a dilapidated police outpost in front of their community building. “As soon as we met him and found out that he needed immediate aid, we started to help him physically and spiritually,” writes Saw Timu, one of a disciple-making team in Thailand partnered with BMS. “We cleaned up his room, cut his nails and took care of him as much as we could.”
Uncle Kamphon decided he’d like to stay living in the building he’d made home, and after careful prayer, the team reached out to partners and community members for donations to improve it. BMS supporters gave several hundred pounds towards the renovations which were completed on 25 November 2025. “During the six days of working hard together for Uncle Kamphon, many people witnessed the amazing grace and love of God,” writes Saw Timu. “I believe that this is a good seed sowing and God will bless us to harvest many souls in the future.”
Praise God that last year in Kasese District, Western Uganda, BMS’ partner Justice Livelihoods Health (JLH) established their first domestic violence shelter. The initiative involved multiple partners and the Kasese District local Government, a brilliant witness to all involved. Speaking at the event was Biira, whose story you may remember hearing during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. Thank God that 2,713 individuals were supported last year as they escaped or recovered from gender-based violence, through the incredible work of JLH.
“We have had so many prayers answered for us in 2025 in BMS’ Operations and Resources team,” writes team member Tinaz Sequeira. “We formed a new Supporter Services team, and God has brought brilliant new people into BMS. We have received generous gifts and had the privilege of talking to supporters and hearing their stories. We have learned a lot and had interesting development opportunities including a very helpful knowledge-sharing trip to the Tearfund office.”
