Bringing Transformation Through the Local Church

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ!

Am Pastor Vincent Atwijukire, I came to the Lord on 22nd August 2002, am married to Rebecca Ninsiima Atwijukire and we have four daughters Ruth Santa Kirabo 21 years, Marian Santa Kwikiriza 20 years, Ebenezer Amutuhaire 13 years and Abigail Amanda Amatsiko 6 years.

I have served as an associate Pastor for 12 years, as a pastor 8 years. I joined Choice Baptist Church Wabigalo in 2017 and responded to the call of God to participate in Church planting movement under the leadership of Pastor Alex Minge and in November 15th 2019 we planted a church in Bugolobi under Choice Baptist Church Wabigalo. The church is called Choice Baptist Church in Bugolobi Kampala and we meet in the suburbs of Kampala Slums. I give technical support to Hope for life Ministries at Choice Baptist Church Wabigalo, our Mother church.  I serve as a JLH Programs and CCMP Coordinator for Uganda since 1st of May 2024.

I thank God for His continued faithfulness and for your unwavering prayers and support. Your partnership is making a visible difference as churches are being awakened to their role in transforming their communities. Through the Church and Community Mobilization Process (CCMP), I am clearly witnessing lives changed, mindsets renewed, and communities taking responsibility for their own holistic development. I am grateful to share these updates with you.

Over the past two years, I have seen God move in powerful ways through CCMP work, particularly in Northern and Western Uganda during the recent trainings in Gulu and Kasese. Church leaders gathered with a deep hunger to learn how they can become agents of transformation within their communities.

One encouraging story comes from a local church leader who initially believed that development could only come through external aid. Through the CCMP training, his mindset shifted significantly. He began to recognize that God has already placed resources within the church and community. Inspired by this truth, he mobilized his congregation to identify local challenges and take action. Today, the church has started a small initiative supporting vulnerable families with food and practical care - using their own available resources.

Another encouraging story comes from the Facilitator in Kasese Western Uganda says After attending a CCMP session, I was inspired to address needs in Kithoma Baptist Church and the surrounding community in Kasese. Together with my wife and church members, we identified vulnerable groups and formed Kithoma Charity Alliance (KCA), a church-based CBO. We registered 65 households and trained caregivers in practical skills like soap making, baking, and weaving. We managed to mobilize locally in the church and community and raised UGX 1,000,000 (about GBP200) to support activities. The church’s influence has grown, with increased membership and youth seeking counselling. This initiative reflects a shift to ownership, fostering unity, restoring dignity, and promoting holistic transformation. We no longer struggle to meet our needs locally as everyone has this saying “We no longer wait for help - we are the help God has sent.”

On a personal note, I continue to thank God for strength and grace in this season of ministry. Coordinating CCMP programs and supporting church leaders across different regions has been both challenging and deeply fulfilling.

Traveling to various communities, engaging with pastors, and witnessing transformation firsthand has strengthened my conviction that the church is God’s primary instrument for holistic change.

However, the work also comes with demands - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. I continually depend on God for wisdom, health and endurance. I am also grateful for my family and ministry team who provide encouragement and support along the way.

Thank you for standing with me in prayer - it truly makes a difference.

Transformation Story: Rev. Odoch Alfred

Rev. Odoch Alfred’s journey is a remarkable testimony of transformation through CCMP. After participating in CCMP training for two years, his life and ministry have experienced significant change. Through a transformed mindset, Rev. Odoch moved from dependency to stewardship and productivity. Today, he is a successful farmer and community model, managing a thriving model farm. He has planted over 500 trees, rears approximately 750 chickens, and cultivates crops such as maize, rice, and others. In addition, he keeps livestock including cows, goats, and sheep. This transformation has not only improved his livelihood but has also impacted his ministry. In recognition of his growth and leadership, the church promoted him from Parish Priest to Archdeacon. We thank God for the impact of CCMP and appreciate the Diocese for allowing him to be part of the program. Rev. Odoch is now a confident facilitator whose influence continues to inspire many during trainings. He stands as a model of holistic transformation within the community.

The churches Capacity to engage their immediate communities using locally available resources have improved beyond our expectations. Churches have constructed their own worship buildings, improved their individual projects as well as church projects. We are conserving the environment by planting trees in all the churches that are involved in CCMP without external support. We are now believing that Transformation is possible without relying 100% on external support.

This transformation reflects a deeper spiritual awakening. Churches are moving from dependency to ownership, from passivity to action. The emphasis on biblical teaching alongside practical engagement is helping believers understand their identity as stewards of God’s creation.

I am also seeing increased unity among community members. As churches take the lead, communities are coming together to address shared challenges such as poverty, health concerns, and education gaps. The church is truly becoming a light and a center of hope.

I want to thank the Living God for the impact made so far. These changes are not just physical but deeply spiritual - restoring dignity, strengthening faith, and building sustainable transformation. Your prayers and support are a vital part of this journey.

Please join us in praying for the following:

Spiritual Growth: That church leaders and communities will continue to experience renewed mindsets and deeper understanding of their role in transformation.

Sustainability: That CCMP initiatives started by churches will grow and become sustainable without dependency on external support.

Strength and Protection: For physical health, wisdom, and spiritual strength as we continue training and mentoring leaders.

Expansion of Impact: That more churches will embrace CCMP and become centers of transformation in their communities.

Families: Specifically my family and all the families involved in CCMP in Uganda that the Lord will provide for them and that all their needs shall be met as they transform. Pray for my first born daughter Ruth Kirabo Santa who is in Ministry that the Lord will keep her active and focused to her spiritual Journey. Pray for my second born Mariam Kwikiriza Santa who recently received her Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) results and score 16 Points. She has not gotten a university and she is passionate about doing  Medicine or Pharmacy or Biomedical Laboratory Science. Pray that the Lord will provide a university and tution for her study.  Pray for my wife Rebecca who is on life medication for heart disease. Pray for provision for medication on time and protection but above all healing.

Thank you once again for your faithful prayers and support. We are truly encouraged to know that we are not alone in this mission. May God bless you richly as you partner with us in bringing hope and transformation to communities.

With gratitude and blessings,

Vincent Atwijukire
