Happy New Year!
On this cold yet beautiful sunny morning, with a light dusting of frost on every surface, we pause to take in the view—to stop, breathe deeply, and say, Thank You, Jesus.
We give thanks for the fun we've had, the moments of rest in between, and for being kept safe and healthy throughout this trip.
As we pack up to leave yet another hotel on our way to share with our final church during Home Assignment, it feels like the right moment to reflect on the goodness of God during this short season. One of the highlights was the privilege of baptising Ruth and Phoebe in December!
Admittedly, this time has at moments stretched our stamina. Yet the many beds, delicious meals, and deeply encouraging conversations with those who pray for us have made a significant impact on our lives and ministry. The “cloud of witnesses” cheering us on truly does not feel far away. Hugs, cups of tea, and faithful prayers have put wind in our sails and spurred us onward.
Though our hearts remain in Peru, our time with many of you here in the UK has been rich and fruitful. We have gained renewed strength to keep serving through the grace God so faithfully provides. Please join us in giving thanks to our Lord for this special time.
We also remember the country of Venezuela in its current situation. We pray for good government, for peace and stability for its people, and for the good news of Jesus to spread far and wide throughout the country. From the Venezuelans we know, we hear a sense of relief that Nicolás Maduro has been removed. After decades of oppression and suffering, there is hopeful anticipation that they may begin picking up the pieces and moving toward a better future. Carlos and Betty, our Venezuelan colleagues are currently in Caracas and asks the following:
Please Pray for sufficient food for my family in Venezuela.
Pray for the physical well-being of my entire family in Venezuela.
Pray for assistance and the provision of a vehicle for safe ground transportation to the Colombian border by January 17th.
May their prayers be answered in God's mercy.
Lord, let Your kingdom come and Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Here is a picture of us in London with two of our Peruvian friends - Patricio and Samuel.
Now, with hearts on fire as we enter 2026, we look ahead to the Peruvian Baptist Assembly in Cusco from January 20–23, followed by Missionary Kids Camp for Jonathan the next week, and then a time of rest and family fun in Lima. After that, we will reconnect with our home in Trujillo and begin preparing for the school year, which starts in March.
Since everyone in our family is a student, we are all working to stay focused on our goals and move forward steadily—while also making space for rest and recuperation. We would deeply appreciate your prayers as we seek to pace ourselves well, meet deadlines, and grow in wisdom as we apply what we are learning.
We pray for each of you as well—that God's grace and peace would surround you and dwell within you; that His great love and faithfulness would sustain you; that His angels would guide and protect you in all your ways; and that you would be upheld and strengthened by God's hand during difficult times.
Shalom,
The Mahons
