Dil Karki

May 2025

A Season of growth, connection, and shared purpose

As we reflect on the first half of 2025, I’m filled with gratitude for the ways God has been at work through EQUIP, in our family, and across borders. This season has been marked by collaboration, learning, and meaningful encounters, from leadership summits to rural school visits, cross-cultural exchanges in Cambodia, and marriage seminars in India.

The year began with a revitalising time for the EQUIP leadership team at The Global Leadership Summit (29 January). This was a valuable opportunity for learning, recharging, and networking.

From 10–12 February, I hosted a funding partner to showcase EQUIP’s impact in rural Nepali schools. The visit was deeply appreciated and led to an exciting initiative, a learning exchange trip to Cambodia (16–23 May). I led three teacher trainers (two of whom traveled abroad for the first time) to observe Cambodian schools, engage with educators, and gather cross-border insights to enrich our programmes. The learning has since been shared with our Kathmandu team.

My wife and I were invited by two churches in West Bengal, India (14–17 February) to conduct a Marriage Enrichment Seminar and Positive Parenting sessions. We trained 36 couples, covering biblical marriage foundations, communication, conflict resolution and parenting. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with participants deeply engaging in the sessions.

My wife completed her third Master’s degree (Innovation in Education, Driestar Christian University, Netherlands) while managing high cholesterol and blood sugar. We will celebrate her 50th birthday on 23 July!

My elder daughter is planning to launch a jewellery business alongside her banking job, with plans to transition fully once the business is fully established.

On 28 February, we bid farewell to two staff members, joyfully reconnecting with former colleague Joy Ransom, who joined a project visit to Rukum West (2–4 March). During this trip, I signed the 2025 Project Partnership Agreement with 10 schools and held leadership reflection meetings with eight school leaders, followed by teacher training follow-ups.

EQUIP successfully completed all programmes for the 2024–25 academic year across 40 partner schools in four districts. Our annual Development Day (19–20 March) focused on staff wellbeing and team building, featuring worship, devotion, sessions on biblical rest and holistic health (the "Focus on 5": eating, sleeping, moving, spirituality and unplugging). The team also hiked in Shivapuri National Park, enjoying fellowship and nature. Each member set personal goals for rest and wellness.  We will review the goals as a team on 9 June.

Prayer requests:

·        Wisdom & discernment in my roles as EQUIP Head and KISC Leadership team member.

·        Safety for our traveling teams and support for their families during their absences.

·        Salvation for my sister-in-law in Colchester, that she may experience Christ’s love.

·        Healing for a relative battling blood cancer.

·        Guidance for my daughter’s business plans.

·        Smooth transition for our two new staff members (teacher trainer & education facilitator).

Through it all, your steadfast prayers, support and partnership have been a constant source of my strength. Thank you for standing with me in this journey! A special thanks to Trevor Neill (Selsdon Baptist Church) for his encouragement during our 15 April call. I have received an email about 'Expect 26: Save the date!' from BMS.  If this comes together, my hope is to meet some of you personally.

Yours faithfully,

Dil Bahadur Karki,

Head of EQUIP
