We have just had a wonderful time with the Board of Directors as well as the other organizations (BMS, Cutting Edge Foundation (CEF), Christian Health Service Corps (CHSC), OFF, AEM, MAI, Frontiers, Eastern Mennonite Missions, SAHEL LIFE), who support and want to support Guinebor 2 Hospital. Everything went smoothly by the grace of God! I was encouraged by the hand of God who led us in the discussions.
CEF donated $10,000 for the hospital's projects. CSHC, represented by Dr. Tony Rector, promised to contribute to the smooth running of the hospital by sending qualified medical staff in the near future. The Swedish doctors' organization has promised to continue sending specialists for staff training at Guinebor 2.
I am so grateful to God for Christy and her husband, Peter, missionaries of the Eastern Mennonite Mission group. Christy is a wise lady full of wisdom and humility. It helps us to improve maternal and childcare services at the hospital and also help us with medicine for our communities.
During the Board of Directors' meeting, it was revealed that there is a fundamental need for the proper functioning of the hospital governance. This with the purpose to continue serving the Chadian people with the health services that we provide. We will also need to review our limited finance and strengthening key departments (Laboratories, Pharmacy, Medical Imaging and Operating Theatre). In this regard, we will be considering if there are other possibilities where we can sell these services to other people not just to the hospital's patients. This to produce extra funding to reinvest in the hospital.
The Ministry of Public Health has provided us with a new 4x4 ambulance. However, the Protocol d' Accord between G2 and the Chadian Government has yet to be signed because we had to make a small correction to the document. Please pray that this is done soon.
We had a good time with Aminta, Claire and Lucia (BMS and G2 colleagues in the photo), at the restaurant "Aux Bouts du doigt" and while we where planning how to move forward with our work at the hospital.
I would like also to share with you that my grandson Timothee started attending the English-speaking mission school in N'Djamena and after only six months of English classes, he has begun speaking well in English! We would like to thank you for supporting BMS with this and for BMS supporting my family with my grandson schooling fees.
Other news is that my family and I were blessed in early 2024 to attend the wedding of one of my adopted sons, Salomon. God's grace has reached us, and we had a car to travel to the wedding as a family. We in turn bless the Lord for the brothers who have helped us with this. May the LORD bless them a hundredfold!
Our greatest joy is to see those who have accepted the Lord, grow in love for God and preach the word without fear.
‘A pass the baton’ event took place at the hospital during the Board of Trustees meeting. Dr. Bert Oubre, the hospital funder, handed over to me the hospital leadership in both the presence of the Board of Trustees and the hospital staff. It was a moment accompanied by humility and simplicity of heart.
Thanksgiving:
Prayers:
Let me finish by expressing my gratitude to all of you for your support and prayers.
May the LORD bless you.
I want to share 1 Samuel 7:12 with you. ‘…And Samuel took a stone and placed it between Mizphah and Shen, and called it Eben Ezer, saying, "the LORD has helped us."
Yours truly,
Kalbassou and Maimouna
